Why are film actors so highly paid whereas scientists are paid relatively quite little?

Answer by David H. Lawrence Xvii:

Very few film actors are highly paid. The vast majority never get the work they seek.

Very few scientists are paid relatively little. And some turn their work into products and services that make them billionaires.

There is a completely different set of math problems in entertainment than there is in either basic or applied research and science.

You might as well substitute teachers, firefighters, nurses and other noble professions for scientists – you'll get the same answer.

Everyone's salary is based on what someone is willing to pay them. You just have to find the right employer.
